I have many doctor friends and acquaintances. I’ve recently decided to take my health more seriously and hired a badass healer friend to be my personal advisor for medicine and health. In our doctor and patient contract:
“I believe in your capacity to heal from any illness, trauma, or loss. I will never view you as hopeless or broken.”
She is a functional medicine practitioner, a Western MD with extensive hospital experience, trained in Ayurveda, Siddha Varmam, and other esoteric arts. She also is a deeply trusted friend.
In the past, I’ve often had the experience where I go in to see a doctor I just met, they run a few blood tests, and they tell me, here, go take these pills... for the rest of your life! I ask, “Is there another option? Diet and exercise, maybe?” The response is always, “No, there is nothing else you can do.”
Meanwhile, the opioid crisis, spurred by the corruption in Big Pharma and medical “marketing” has contributed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands, maybe more. Not just normal death, horrifying, soul decaying, addiction riddled deaths.
Wikipedia defines functional medicine as:
Functional medicine is a form of alternative medicine that encompasses a number of unproven and disproven methods and treatments. Its proponents claim that it focuses on the "root causes" of diseases based on interactions between the environment and the gastrointestinal, endocrine, and immune systems to develop "individualized treatment plans". It has been described as pseudoscience, quackery, and at its essence a rebranding of complementary and alternative medicine.
Sure, there are bad actors out there, but doesn’t focusing on “root causes” including emotional and spiritual ones just make purely logical sense?
Is it any surprise that a significant percentage of people don’t trust our Western medical system and the vaccine is causing unrest and fear?
At the same time, the incredible leaps that are being made in the science of medicine creates this incredible duality. AI, 3D printing, sensor tech, XR, robotics are all incredible.
Ultimately, we can only truly heal ourselves. We just need to find the members of our team that can support us in this journey.
