The idea of systems over goals is important. Creating habits. However, goals are still important. You still needs to know where you wants to go, so the systems can be designed to achieve a something you want. Or think you want.
In League of Legends and other MOBA games, there’s the idea of micro(management) and macro(management.) Micro is mechanics and reflexes based - last hitting (CS), skill shots, kiting, combat abilities for one on one and team fights, etc. Macro is more strategic - map awareness, objectives (dragons, camps, bosses), pushing side lanes, team communication, etc.
The goal is to win the game.
In life, these concepts also apply. What is the micro (talents/systems) to apply macro (strategies) to accomplish a goal. To win the game. The real question is, what game are you looking to win? What game are you playing? What is the Game Worth Playing?
